Volunteers Week 2019 - A Special Thank You from Our Chair of Trustees

I am so pleased to be writing this message of appreciation to all our fantastic volunteers.

When we started Care Home Volunteers in 2014, we knew we had identified a real need for so many older people in care who were lonely and isolated, despite the great care, kindness and compassion that they were receiving from our partner care homes. We understood the challenges that our volunteers would face, but we hoped that the rewards and personal satisfaction from bringing joy and friendship to residents would compensate many times over.

Judging from the numerous tributes we receive from volunteers, from care homes and from residents, this is clearly happening. We were very gratified a few months ago to have our volunteers’ work recognised by winning the National Volunteer Team of the Year 2018 from Caring UK – a very exceptional honour! Some of our volunteers have also won awards within their care home groups.

Many of our volunteers have been with us from the start, and we are very grateful to them – they are our best ambassadors! So, to all our volunteers – a very special thank you from all trustees and volunteer coordinators.

Most of all, though, thank you on behalf of all the residents for brightening up their lives.
